PUA Benefits End

Under the CARES Act, PUA benefits were initially set to end in December 2020. The Consolidated Appropriations Act extended that deadline to March 14, 2021, and the American Rescue Plan extended it again to September 4. The additional $300 for individuals receiving regular Unemployment Insurance benefits (UI) also ended. If you have applied for benefits and have eligibility for benefits before September 4, 2021, you are still entitled to receive your PUA or additional benefits. Administrative delay is not a reason for a disqualification or other notice of ineligibility for benefits you are entitled to before September 4. If you have not received any notification regarding your benefits or a hearing if you have been denied, and it has been more than 7 weeks since you applied, the Employment Security Division of the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) may be violating your right to due process. See our forms page for sample forms to try to have ESD act on your claim. Please contact us if you would like to see if you qualify for assistance from NLS. You can apply online through our online intake portal or contact any of our offices.
